New York Bridal Week is coming up in just another week! I still have a ton of stuff from the LAST Bridal Market that I haven’t posted. Better get on it Jill!
My favorite experience from last season was courtesy of the delightful Lela Rose. Instead of stuffing us all into a cramped space with a bunch of hot lights, loud music and larger than life egos…She said, why don’t you all come over to my house for Tea and I’ll show you my new designs. Seriously, who does that? Really, no one does that. [Forget the dresses, I just wanted to know what her house was going to look like.] Lela Rose, who are you?
I’ll tell you who she is…she’s this bright, funny, sociable and APPROACHABLE designer. She interacted with every single person who walked through her door, even me (and I’m known to stick to the corners of an event). Again who does this? Designers don’t do this. And she certainly did not disappoint with her (always exquisite) Bridal Gowns. The Tea and Sweets were a thoughtful offering along with the presentation. And the house? Let’s just say this, the Dining Room Table retracts into the floor!!! So if you want to have an impromptu dance party at your next dinner party, it won’t be a problem.
One last bit…on the way out someone commented on Lela’s super fun wedges (pictured below). She said, “Oh! I got them at Payless!” Really Lela? Payless? She’s so classy, because what she failed to mention was that she actually DESIGNED them for Payless. Such a modest girl. Check out the latest line: Lela Rose for Payless.
