How many people do you think get engaged in Central Park each year? Google couldn’t give me the stats on that… I’m proud to say that Central Park is where Tony and I got engaged. Jerese told me that Sean asked her to marry him by the bridge in Central Park too! Jerese and Sean are getting married at one of my VERY FAVORITE venues this year … the abandon mansion at Alder Manor. But this New York couple came to see me for a shoot in Malibu over the holidays. Jerese is a Michigan girl who loves the outdoors. Of course she is! Anyone could see that just by looking at the pictures (:

San Francisco Engagement Photos | Christina and Walt

Christina and Walt have a wonderful wedding planned… they’re getting married at an old Dance Hall in Walt’s home town in Monterey. Walt attended Boy Scout meetings in this hall when he was just a tyke…so much history there. I’m REALLY excited for their event. For their engagement photos we spent the day shooting in and around their home in South San Francisco. These two have a storybook life. (= Congratulations Christina and Walt….you found each other!!!

Erica and Michael are living the “LDR” lifestyle right now (Long Distance Relationship) … He lives in New York and she works out of Seattle. I think we all felt pretty lucky when the schedule Gods smiled on us with a day we could all make it to the OC for this shoot last month. The planets aligned in the weather department too – nothing but warm California sunshine smiling on us here (= With record rains here in NYC the last couple weeks…I have to admit, I’m just a smidge excited about getting home to what California does best… But I’ll be ready to return next month to shoot this couple’s wedding, Upstate. Can’t WAIT you guys!!!!

Erin and Chris have a big wedding planned this year at The Boathouse in Central Park. Whenever I dreamed of getting married (before I actually did), the wedding in my head was ALWAYS going to take place at the boathouse. So I will be living vicariously through Erin and Chris as I photograph their big day…alongside my husband, Tony. We actually got engaged here, so there will be lots of sappy ROMANCE thoughts floating around in our heads for this event (: Erin and Chris….we can’t WAIT!!!!

I love this picture of Erin and Chris so much, that I had to post it right away. When Chris planted this passionate kiss onto Erin atop the Brooklyn Bridge – I think he took us both by surprise! He picked the exact right time to exercise his spontaneity! Walking the Brooklyn Bridge, overlooking the skyline of downtown – it’s kind of like Disneyland – it brings out a person’s festive side every time! Jessica and Brian sure did pick a good time to request an environment photo shoot in Southern California! It seams that every patch of undeveloped land is flooded with yellow wildflowers! So we followed these two love-birds through the terrain to capture some quiet moments together….just us…and them. What a ROMANTIC first date for the four of us! (= Thanks for making the drive Jess and Bri – can’t WAIT for the big day!

Number one photography job perk? Working with like-minded people. Margaret is that funny person who has the most hilarious comments about what’s real…she’ll say the things I was thinking in my head – but couldn’t say because uh…I’m trying to run a business. I miss that person inside of me, the person who could make funny comments about inappropriate subject matter. I miss that person so much that I recently had a little breakdown about it….tears and all. I’M NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!!! I cried to my husband. Ironically, he thought the entire sentiment was very funny. Well, I’m no Carrie Bradshaw, so I’m not going to wax on about the meaning of funny and why I keep that former funny girl all caged up these days. The point of the story is that Margaret and John are funny. You can see it in the pictures. Smiling and laughing and having a good time with life – that’s what they do as a couple. If every relationship could be like their’s …

Megha and Nirav | Ritz Carlton Wedding

I could brag about how wonderful this couple is for days…they both just have this thing that radiates from the inside to the outside….it’s GOOD PEOPLE kind of stuff. New York Wedding Photography | High Line Engagement | Selena and Michael

When I lived in New York, I remember attending a lot of different fundraisers for the preservation of The High Line. It sounded like a cool idea … take an out-of-service, elevated subway track and turn it into a park! And then when they finally finished it, everyone said – oh it’s SO COOL!!! You must go see it! But still I thought….”What’s to see? It’s an above ground subway track with some grass on it…” {I can be such a scrooge sometimes} But oh no, I’m here to tell ya – it’s so much more than just a park! And you really must go see it!!! The architects included so many different surprises. Keep an eye out for secret pathways, public art, hidden windows that look down to the street and one not so hidden window that looks down to the street (pictured below). The whole thing is a permanent fixture to the city that (upon completion in 2011) will run from the Meat Packing District all the way up to 30th street! So next time your in New York, and finding the weather to be delightful – don’t be afraid to skip Central Park and head over to the High Line (:

When I headed up for the first time, with Selena and Mike… the weather was less than delightful. It was FLIPPIN COLD!!! These two did a great job of fighting that face that says, “I’m flipping COLD!!!” I guess come February, they’ll be good and ready to get out of NY for a few days and warm up in MIAMI…we can’t wait to shoot their wedding there!

Happy New Year | Calamigos Ranch Wedding | So You’re Engayged

Happy 2011 to every one out there! We had a very busy holiday season with work and travel and family and friends and all the holiday celebrations. Between Thanksgiving and New Years, Tony and I clocked in a lot of frequent flier miles (collectively) We said hello to: Kansas City, Houston, San Antonio, College Station, San Francisco, San Diego, Murphys, Las Vegas, New York (twice), New Jersey, Albany, Phoenix/Scottsdale and one fun filled night in Ventura, California! (: We also enjoyed visits from some of our favorite friends from Seattle, Scottsdale and Fulsome. We feel so blessed to have so much abundance in our lives and can’t wait for more of that in the coming year (:

Amidst all the hustle, the blog has gone dormant for the past few weeks. (My apologies for that – I’m resolving to keep things more consistent here in the New Year!)
